Training Contracts in Beale and Company

Our practice
Beale and Company is a young and friendly firm based in Covent Garden in the heart of London. We provide a comprehensive range of legal services to commercial clients who are largely drawn from the following sectors:

  • Construction
    We have advised clients in connection with many high profile construction projects and disputes over the past 40 years. We advise on contract forms and related insurance, environmental, and health and safety matters.

  • Insurance
    The principal areas covered by our insurance practice are professional indemnity, public and employers' liability, and environmental law. We are recognised in the main legal directories as leading professional indemnity solicitors.

  • Information Technology
    Our clients range from start-ups and "dot.com" entrepreneurs to established long-term players in the IT industry. We advise on intellectual property rights, software licences, distribution contracts and terms of business covering hardware, software, Internet, database and e?commerce issues.

  • International
    We advise clients involved in overseas projects or with other business interests abroad on the legal issues involved.

How many trainees do we take on?
We normally take on up to three Trainee Solicitors each year.

What experience will you get?
The Training Contract usually starts in September and lasts for two years. It complies with the Training Code of the Law Society and generally consists of four six-month seats, each spent in a Partner's office. Our Trainees obtain experience in:

  • Litigation and dispute resolution
    Practice and procedure in adjudications, arbitrations, litigation, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, as well as proceedings under health and safety legislation.

  • Corporate and commercial
    Advising on and drafting agreements for the supply of professional services, construction contracts, commercial transactions, acquisitions and disposals of businesses, company secretarial matters and corporate compliance. We also advise clients about employment issues and practice.

    In addition you will also be given the opportunity to draft wills, administer estates and to be involved in trusts and tax planning and will do some commercial and residential conveyancing.

What is it like to be a Trainee with Beale and Company?
On starting your training contract with us you will be given a full introduction to help familiarise you with us and the work which we do. We also provide lectures and training on legal matters relevant to our practice. Each Trainee is supervised by the Partner for whom the Trainee works and progress is reviewed regularly by other Partners. We have a friendly and informal working environment.
