Beale and Company strengthens team across the board to continue to be the first choice provider of legal services to all professionals and their insurers
04 June 2008

Beale and Company has shown its commitment to growth by expanding its teams in London, Bristol and Dublin. This is part of a wider strategic decision to grow the firm in order to continue to be the first choice provider of legal services to all professionals and their insurers. “We are bullish about the opportunities in these markets and will continue to hire the best people” – commented Senior Partner, Antony Smith.

A new PI team has been created in London headed by Ed Anderson who joins as a partner from Browne Jacobson. Ed specialises in defending claims against accountants, lawyers and financial services professionals and has a substantial pension litigation practice. He is ranked as a leading individual in professional negligence by both Chambers and Legal 500. Ed joins along with his team.

Senior Partner, Antony Smith added – “Aligning Ed’s team with our strong construction based practice enables us to provide a full service offering to the insurance market. We already share a number of clients. For some of these we have handled their construction related work whilst Ed has been instructed on the legal or accountancy cases. In London we can now provide a truly full service offering, which we believe is one of the most powerful in professional risks.”

“I am excited by the opportunity to join the leading firm for construction related professional negligence. Increasingly insurers expect their panel firms to undertake work on behalf of all classes of professional and I believe we are well placed to be at the forefront of the market for all risks.”

In addition the Dublin and Bristol offices were set up in 2006, yet already total 14 staff. Three new recruits have just joined with more hires expected over the summer.

About Beale and Company: Beale and Company is a niche law firm which specialises in providing commercial and cost effective advice to insurers and commercial clients in the construction industry and other professions. We are particularly known for our practice in handling professional negligence claims against consultants and professional services providers in the construction industry and we have acted for most of the leading firms of consultants. We are also known for our expertise in handling professional negligence claims against the full breadth of the professions including solicitors, accountants, surveyors, insurance brokers and barristers. Our website, www.beale-law.com, gives a good overview of our practice.

Chambers and Partners 2008: “Historically a one-stop shop for the construction industry, this firm’s spin-off professional negligence practice is starting to expand into professional indemnity claims in other industries. However, it is regarding TCC-related negligence that interviewees continue to place the outfit “at the leading edge of the market.” The group is highly visible on major technology and construction claims and has been involved in such significant projects as Wembley and Gerrards Cross. The team’s biggest coup of 2007 was extricating clients Ove Arup from a USD100 million claim by Mirant, which arose from delays in the construction of the Sual power plant in the Philippines.”

About Ed Anderson : Ed was previously a partner at Browne Jacobson and was head of their professional indemnity team in London.

Chambers and Partners 2008 : “Very competent and always calm, partner Ed Anderson leads the London team……..Anderson himself focuses primarily on alleged negligence in complex technical territories such as pensions and tax, and the team has defended solicitors, pensions advisers and IFAs in these areas”. The “preferred firm” of at least one indemnity insurer for claims of this type.

Legal 500 2008 : “The team, headed by Ed Anderson, has a particularly strong reputation for representing accountants.”
