We have acted for several hundred firms of accountants in relation to all types of work including audit and tax. We frequently advise accountants long before a claim materialises, for example as to limitation of liability, access to working papers and on conduct issues and are well versed in with the professional regulations of all the professional bodies including the ICAEW and ACCA.
Recent examples of claims on which our partners have been instructed include:
- £55 million audit claim arising from the failure to detect a widespread fraud on investors which involved a criminal investigation by the Serious Fraud Office
- Claims arising from advice on whether CGT entrepreneurs' relief was available on the disposal of shares
- Share sale valuation which included the issue of whether the accountant had immunity from suit as a quasi-arbitrator
- Failure by auditors to detect the misappropriation of monies by a finance director over many years
