Garrett graduated from Trinity College Dublin 1998 with a Two Subject Moderatorship in History of Art and Architecture and Philosophy. He also holds higher post-graduate diplomas in Business Information Technology (1999) and Law (2004).
Garrett joined Beale and Company in May 2008 on completion of his indentures of traineeship with Crowley Millar Solicitors in Dublin. His training in Crowley Millar emphasised insurance defence litigation. He has broad experience in a number of contentious areas such as professional negligence, personal injury, motor and household liability, boundary disputes, defamation, breach of contract, breach of copyright, debt recovery, employment law and family law.
Since joining Beale and Company, Garrett has specialised in defending professional negligence claims, primarily against construction professionals such as engineers, architects and surveyors. Garrett has also acted in a number of high value claims against solicitors and accountants. In 2008, he acted in the successful strike out of a Third Party claim against the former partners of an accountancy firm with a potential value in excess of €2 million euro inclusive of costs.
