James graduated from Birmingham University in 2000 with a degree in Medieval and Modern History. On completion of the LPC (pass with distinction) at the College of Law, Guildford, he joined Beale and Company in 2003, qualifying in 2005.
During his time at Beale and Company, James has advised architects, engineers, contractors, surveyors, approved building inspectors and their professional indemnity insurers, in relation to a wide range of matters ranging from small fee claims to high value, multiparty construction and engineering actions in the UK, Ireland and overseas. He has experience in dealing with proceedings listed before the High Court (including the TCC), Court of Appeal, House of Lords and the Privy Council as well as pre-action disputes, Mediations and Adjudications. James has also advised on contractual matters during a project.
James gives seminars on a number of topics of interest to professional bodies in the construction and engineering industry.
