James obtained a degree in law in 2000 from Brunel University. He joined Beale and Company in 2001 having completed the LPC at the College of Law, London as part of his training to be a solicitor. In the same year, he was awarded the Lord Lloyd of Kilgerran prize by the British & Irish Law, Education Technology Association for his paper on IT law.

James recently returned to Beale and Company after working in the Corporate Finance team of Pinsent Masons. Whilst at Pinsent Masons, he advised a FTSE 250 listed contractor on its £247 million recommended offer for a Norwegian drilling rig owner and operator.

James now specialises in a range of corporate work including acquisitions and sales of businesses, management buyouts/buyins, company formations, shareholders agreements and standard terms and conditions. He has a particular interest in Internet law and regulation and advises a number of popular websites.

James is a regular contributor to a variety of IT journals and websites.
