BEALE AND COMPANY INSURANCE SEMINAR SERIES

We would be delighted if you would join us for a talk and discussion on the current prevalent professional indemnity Insurance issues we have encountered. We aim for this to be the first of a regular series of seminars providing practical advice on issues relevant to Insurance Professionals in the Bristol area.
In this afternoon seminar, we will discuss the following topics:
- It's not unusual... - a reminder of the risks of parties to a construction contract failing to record the terms of the contract in writing;
- Increasing Risks? - our experiences of claims arising from additional areas of cover such as copyright infringement, defamation and D&O Policies;
- Just sort it out! - a summary of the benefits and risks of attempting to resolve a dispute by Alternative dispute resolution.

Acquisition training - Structuring the purchase of a business

Christmas Carol Service

The service will be taken by the Reverend Canon Jeremy Davies, Precentor of Salisbury Cathedral, who will be accompanied by a choir of professional singers.
After the service we are inviting guests to our London office, which is a short stroll from the church, for mince pies and mulled wine.

Talk: Irish Solicitors PII Market

Beale and Company is hosting a lunchtime talk on the Irish Solicitors market for claims managers, underwriters and brokers dealing with Irish Solicitors claims.
In the run-up to renewal on 1 December, Stephen Chessher and Tara Cosgrove, partners in the firm's Dublin office will give an insight into Irish Solicitors market. Topics to be covered include:
- Key changes to the Irish Solicitors Minimum Terms for 2011-12 and their implications for underwriters and claims handlers
- Conveyancing claims - have they peaked?
- Legal Services Regulation Bill - will it reduce costs?
Lunch will be provided following the talk providing an opportunity to continue the discussions with the speakers and other attendees.

Bribery Act 2010 Seminar

On Wednesday 4 May Beale and Company will be hosting a seminar in conjunction with the Garrick House Network focusing on the challenges that the Bribery Act poses for consultants and providing practical guidance on preparing for the Act.
While the implementation of the Act has been temporarily postponed the challenges remain the same. Businesses must ensure they have ‘adequate procedures' in place for the prevention of bribery as these are likely to be time consuming programmes to implement.
A panel of representatives from Arup, URS Scott Wilson and AECOM will discuss their experiences of implementing anti-corruption programme within their organisations. The session will be introduced by Michael Archer of Beale and Company with a legal update on the Act and the Ministry of Justice Guidance.
Key topics to be covered during the seminar are:
- How has the Bribery Act changed the law?
- What does the Act mean for Consultants?
- What will constitute ‘adequate procedures' for preventing bribery?
- How should Consultants engage with local partners overseas?
- Practical problems on implementing an anti-corruption programme.
